Astorino Challenge for Education

Please share with your students and their parents that we are extending the deadline for students to sign up for the “Astorino Challenge in Education” (ACE) to November 11, 2016.  County Executive Rob Astorino has once again issued his ACE challenge to all Westchester students in grades 6 through 12.  Achieve a final G.P.A of at least 3.8, 95% or “A” average, or better (depending on your school’s grading system) AND/OR perfect attendance for the entire school year and receive a free season pass to Playland.

Remember, Student Improvement is also a criteria for winning. Improving grades a full grade point, letter or 10 percentage point improvement from the previous year’s final report card will also win the student the free season pass to Playland (Final 2nd year G.P.A must be at least a 2.0, 75% or C average).

The student improvement category encourages more students and rewards those who might not have perfect attendance, or an A average but, still hit the books hard and earn significant improvement in their grades.  The whole purpose of the ACE challenge is to offer a little extra incentive to get our kids to strive to do their very best is the classroom.

We need your help in spreading the word to your students in grades 6-12 and to their parents.

Interested students who want to take the challenge can go to www.westchestergov.com/ace and sign up.  To win the challenge, students will need to provide validation of their achievement from their school at the end of the school year. Children under the age of 18 must have permission from their parents to participate. The deadline to sign is November 11, 2016.  The free season pass to Playland, made available through the Westchester County Youth Bureau, will be good from the date of issue, until the end of the season in September 2017 and includes free admission to the park and unlimited rides.
