• The first grade carrot harvest begins in kindergarten.  All classes plant tiny carrot seeds at the end of kindergarten into their shared bed. Over the summer, as the students grow into first graders, the seeds germinate and grow into a bounty of carrots!  When the brand new first graders return, they harvest their crop as a community of scientists and farmers.  A day of fun learning activities tied into literacy, math and science ensues.  After all carrots are harvested they are counted, graphed and shared with the school cafeteria and our local food bank.
