In total, White Plains High School had 11 seniors and 7 juniors who competed at Saturday's WR-JSHS Fair.  Students competed in either the PowerPoint/Speaker division (6), Competitive Poster division (7) or the Display Poster division (5).  This year over 500 students participated from 38 high schools in the Westchester & Rockland counties of New York state.  Please join  me in congratulating all our participating students for their dedication and commitment to their science research projects.  They performed amazingly well in a highly competitive environment and I know it was a very valuable learning experience for all of them.

I am also very happy to announce that Shannon's 1st place win qualifies her to present her PowerPoint at the Albany Junior Science & Humanities Symposium (Albany-JSHS) that will take place at the SUNY Albany campus on March 25-26th.  Shannon will be competing with other Science Research students representing high schools from several different counties throughout New York state.  We are extremely honored to be representing the White Plains School District at this highly competitive event.

In addition, I am very excited to announce that Shannon and her mentor, Dr. Melissa Alderfer, have been selected to present their poster titled "The social functioning of youth experiencing adverse events: Self- and peer-perceptions" at the meeting of the American Psychological Association (APA) Society of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology (SCCAP Division 53) held in Washington DC on August 6-9th.
