Board of Education
The Board is comprised of seven members, elected at large for three-year terms. It is responsible for establishing policies which govern the education of all children attending district schools and for insuring adherence to state laws and regulations.
The Board encourages communication and invites the public to attend its meetings. Regular meetings are held at 7:30 p.m. on the second Monday of each month or as designated. Special meetings and work sessions to be scheduled will include informational programs for parents as well as an opportunity for discussion with Board of Education members and the Superintendent of Schools.
BoardDocs
The White Plains Board of Education adopted a new technology to improve the process of Board governance. BoardDocs is a paperless management tool, designed to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of board meetings with increased transparency and more open communication with the public.
It provides electronic distribution of meeting agendas with unprecedented public access to related information. All documents associated with a meeting are archived and can be accessed using the systems search feature. Eventually, the district will also use the system for online policy management, accessible by the public.
Meeting agendas will be posted 48 hours in advance of meetings. Once the agenda is public, it will automatically appear on your screen.

Freedom of Information Act
Most district records (other than student records) are available for inspection and copying, in accordance with the Freedom of Information Laws. Access to Records forms are available from the District Clerk who can be reached by via email at michellemelendez@wpcsd.k12.ny.us. Copies are 25 cents per page.
White Plains Board of Education Budget Vote/Election
The Board of Education Budget Vote and Election will take place on Tuesday, May 21, from noon to 9:00 p.m. at five polling places (Battle Hill is no longer available as a polling location-voters will go to Rochambeau). The ballot will include the 2024–2025 School District Budget and a vote for Board of Education Members. Three seats will be available, for three-year terms from July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2027. Absentee ballots are available by application to the District Clerk, for any voter who will not be in White Plains during the time of the election. Click here for the absentee ballot application form. For more information, please call (914) 422-2000.
Residents who are registered to vote in general elections are eligible to vote, or they may register with the District Clerk's office. To vote in the general elections, a resident must register with the Westchester County Board of Elections, 25 Quarropas Street, any time throughout the year.
Qualifications for voters are: a citizen of the United States, 18 years of age or more, and a resident of White Plains for at least 30 days prior to the election.
Absentee ballots are available for those who will not be in the district during the voting hours and those who are disabled. Applications are available from the District Clerk.
