On behalf of the WPMS PTA, we would like to wish you a happy, healthy and relaxing summer! Good luck to our 8th Graders as they move on to High School!
Digital Art Club: will meet Monday, June 19 and Tuesday, June 20 after school. Tuesday is our final meeting of the year.
Orchestra Students: Please pick up you instrument in Room 12 and take it home for the summer. The school will not be responsible for instruments left here over the summer.
8th Grade Picnic: Our annual 8th grade picnic will take place on Tuesday, June 20th, at FDR State Park in Yorktown Heights. Buses will leave from Highlands at approximately 8:30am and return before the end of the school day. It will be a day of sports, leisure, barbeque, and Ben and Jerry’s for all!
8th Grade Moving Up: The Moving Up Ceremony will be held on Thursday, June 22, at the Westchester County Center. The ceremony will begin promptly at 3:00pm. The Westchester County Center is located at 198 Central Avenue just off the Bronx River Parkway in White Plains.
Prohibited: The following items are not allowed at the Ceremony: balloons, noisemakers, horns and other such distracting items, food and drinks.
Debts/Fines/Lost Items: If a student has an outstanding debt, fine, or lost book; they will not receive a certificate.
Parking for Guests: We encourage families and friends to arrive as early as possible (carpooling is a good idea). Parking is available in the County Center parking lot. The parking fee is $10.
Handicap Needs: Guests who need handicap parking and assistance must contact the County Center in advance. Please call (914) 995-4050 if you will need assistance.
Recessional: At the end of the Moving Up Ceremony, students will leave the County Center led by their teachers. Please make arrangements to meet your child outside the County Center.
Half Days: Thursday, June 22 and Friday, June 23 7th Grade Students will be dismissed from school at 11:15 am. Thursday, 8th Graders report to the County Center for Moving up and Friday 8th Graders do not have to report to school.
Fall Sports at the High School: Any 8th grader interested in playing a fall sport at the high school must come and see the nurses to see what is required. The HS sports start in August. FALL WPHS Sports: Football, Field Hockey, Boys and Girls Soccer, Volleyball, Cross Country, Girl's Swimming and Girl's Tennis, Cheerleading.
