12. Today is WATANABE Wacky WICKED WIZdom Day!

That's right! The Watanabe brothers, Kei and Yuki are our first students to submit their research to Ms. Mazziotti.

Yuki Watanabe writes:

Nessarose is upset that her sister Elphaba uses her magical powers to save animals, but not to help HER crippled legs walk.

Elphaba feels guilty for this and enchants Nessarose's jeweled shoes, finally enabling her sister to walk!

Elphaba pretends not to care that she received no gift from their father, but over time, the jeweled shoes become an obsession for her, as she sees them as a symbol of their father's favoritism.

Kei Watanabe writes:

IDINA MENZEL MISSED HER FINAL PERFORMANCE AS ELPHABA ON BROADWAY DUE TO AN INJURY.

The day before her final show, Menzel fell several feet through a trap door in the stage during a performance.

The New York Times reported that Menzel was rushed to the hospital, still wearing her witch costume and green makeup.

Fans began to wonder if the Wicked Witch role was cursed—

Margaret Hamilton, who played the witch in the movie version of the Wizard of Oz, suffered serious burns while she was filming.
