• 2021-22 SCHOOL YEAR PROCEDURES & RESOURCES

    Many district procedures and practices continue to be modified due to COVID-19, but the district is open every day, for every grade, with in-person instruction. Please read more below on our current safety procedures. You can also access the district's FAQ for more information.

  • Masks

    Students, staff and visitors are expected to wear face coverings inside and outside, including on the school bus, when three feet physical distancing is not possible. Students will be allowed to remove face coverings during meals and for short breaks so long as they maintain appropriate social distance. Students who are unable to medically tolerate a face covering will not be required to wear one.

    Daily Health Screenings

    The safety of the staff, students and their families remain the White Plains City School District’s top priority.  To prevent the spread of COVID-19 and reduce the potential risk of exposure, we require your participation in a daily health screening. Your participation is important and will help us take precautionary measures to protect our school community.  We ask that you complete this screening every day on behalf of yourself or your child(ren).  Learn more about the district's Daily Health Screenings.

    Food Services Procedures

    Breakfast and Lunch is free for all students in the 2021-22 school year. We encourage families to complete the Education Benefit Form, available on the Food Services Department page.

    Child Care Options

    COVID-19 Cases

    The district will notify the state and local health department immediately upon being informed of any positive COVID-19 diagnostic test result by an individual within school facilities or on school grounds, including students, faculty, staff and visitors of the district.

    In the event of a confirmed case of COVID-19, the district will:

    • Immediately contact those who are at risk of exposure by phone;
    • Work closely with the Westchester County Department of Health to identify who is at risk for potential exposure;
    • Participate fully in all contact tracing efforts so that they can contact and notify families and guide them through next steps, such as testing or quarantine;
    • Notify all district staff; and
    • Send a message through K12 Alerts to notify families of confirmed case of COVID-19 in their child’s school building.

    Please note, privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot identify anyone who has tested positive, however; at the end of each school day, the district will report the number of confirmed cases to the New York State Department of Health. This information will be publicly available on the New York State COVID Report Card dashboard.

    The process for closing school and/or classrooms will be dependent upon many variables such as the nature and size of the outbreak, as well as the number of positive cases.

    If you have any questions about how the district plans to communicate a positive case of COVID-19, please contact the district’s COVID-19 and Nurse Coordinator, Maggie Racioppo at (914) 422-2011.
