Bug Arena: 45 minutes
Students Grades 3-8

The Bug Arena skillmap introduces students to Artificial Intelligence (AI) through a fun, iterative, game-based learning approach.

In this set of activities, students will code their own AI Bug using a variety of different algorithms. They can then compete against other AI bugs to cover the screen with paint.

This skillmap is designed for students between the ages of 8 and 15 years old and takes approximately 45 minutes (including game play) to complete. No previous coding background is required and students will not be exposed to an AI chatbot through this experience.

There are 3 learning paths available for students to choose from. At the end of the learning path, students will receive a certificate of completion and a badge.

Hour of AI lesson: Slither Slam! (Students Grades 9-12, age 13+)

Explore Artificial Intelligence and prompt engineering by competing in a fast-paced Snake game tournament!

The Slither Slam lesson is designed to be a fun introductory experience with Game AI algorithms, prompt engineering and code generation. In this activity, you will code your own “SnakeBot” to compete against other AI snake algorithms in a tournament.

You will learn about AI concepts such as:

What is Artificial Intelligence
Large Language Models (LLM)
Prompt Engineering best practices
Game AI and autonomous algorithms
AI Agents
Testing and debugging

CodeMonkey Jr. teaches young learners computational thinking skills and the basics of coding through the use of blocks.
Students will enter a world filled with captivating creatures and bright colors as they help a monkey on a mission collect bananas and unlock a treasure chest.

Exciting space-themed coding adventures by Tynker in collaboration with NASA!

A collection of space-exploration themed coding tutorials created in collaboration with NASA!
Students can tap into their artistic side in "Design a Mission Patch," get creative in "Tell Your Lunar Gateway Story," take control of robots in "Rover Relay," and imagine their home in space in "Design A Lunar Habitat."

All of these step-by-step tutorials help students learn about real-life NASA missions while strengthening their coding abilities.

Younger students can choose the Tynker Blocks version, and the older students can try the JavaScript version.

Create a Classic Maze
Try the basics of computer science with characters from Angry Birds, Plants vs. Zombies, and Scrat from Ice Age!

**Dragon Dash Game**
Design your own custom dragon, then use programming to guide it through fun puzzles on its quest for treasure and coins!
You'll have to navigate through complex castles, find power-ups, and conquer knights to get all the treasure.

Script Academy: Alice in Wonderland
Alice in Wonderland is a self-guided puzzle designed for Grades 2-5 kids without prior programming experience.
You will guide Alice using functions with and without parameters.

Microsoft's Code a Carnival
Code your own classroom carnival with games like Whack-the-Mole, Burstin' Balloons, and Target Practice.

Coding a Geometric Star Quilt (Seesaw & Code.org)
Students will learn about Native American star quilts, discuss patterns & design their own quilts.
