Special Education and Pupil Services

The Department of Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) plays a vital role in meeting the evolving needs of students in the White Plains City School District and their families. The department delivers a diverse and comprehensive range of programs – including special education, Section 504 plans, homelessness support, family information, school registration, school counseling, school nursing, social-emotional learning, parent educational support, and the food pantry.

The PPS team is instrumental in advancing the District’s “whole child” approach to education, recognizing and responding to the increasingly complex challenges students face each day. The team provides programs and services for students ages 3 to 21 and strives to build an inclusive school setting where students with learning differences receive their specialized instruction, to the extent possible, alongside general education peers. Collaboration with district staff, parents and community ensure quality programs and services.

Highly qualified staff combined with a broad range of offerings allow the District to individualize each student's education. Specialized programs and services provide our students with learning differences, the opportunity to fully participate in the White Plains school community.

If you have questions regarding our programs and services, or are concerned with your child's progress, please contact us. We are happy to help.
