Music Curriculum Overview
The White Plains School District offers music education as part of its graduation requirements for all children. To fulfill these requirements, students take music as part of their overall curriculum through the eighth grade as follows:
- Kindergarten through Fourth Grade – General Music
- Fifth through Eighth Grade – Choice of Band, Orchestra, or General Music/Vocal Instruction
In the nine through twelfth grades, students are required to take one credit of fine arts to graduate. Many students continue to take music on an elective basis. Music classes include Band, Orchestra, Chorus, Class Guitar, and Class Piano.
