New York State School Music Association certificate

The White Plains High School Symphonic Band earned high honors at the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Major Organization Festival held at Mamaroneck High School on Monday, May 18. The band received a Gold rating on NYSSMA Level 5. These awards recognize an exceptional standard of musical performance and preparation. The NYSSMA adjudicators praised the group for its attention to detail and the excellence of WPHS student soloists: Ninth-graders Gianna Pineda on baritone saxophone and Eleanor Ingram on piccolo; 11th-graders Hayden Theall on piccolo and Christina Damato on clarinet; and 12th-grader Miles Ingram on clarinet. “What a performance! Congrats to the band -- they were outstanding!,” band conductor Dr. William Tonissen said. “It was about as well as they have ever played.”
