White Plains High School on Tuesday evening held its annual Science Research & Engineering Symposium, which showcased the impressive work of students across the Science Research and Senior PLTW Engineering programs. Twenty-six sophomores presented posters outlining their proposed research studies, sharing their research questions and next steps. Students also heard from WPHS alumnus Oscar Hutarra, Class of 2019, who discussed his experiences in medical school and provided valuable insight into the college research process. In breakout sessions, 14 juniors and 12 seniors delivered PowerPoint presentations highlighting their current projects and findings. The well-attended event welcomed accepted freshmen, parents, faculty, staff and administrators, providing an opportunity for the school community to celebrate student innovation, inquiry and academic achievement.
