WPHS seniors receive letters of commendation from national organization

Twelve seniors at White Plains High School received letters of commendation last Friday from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation for their exemplary scores on the PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test). Congratulations on the amazing work!

“This really speaks to their academic abilities, dedication and determination,” said Principal Emerly Martinez. “These are students that are taking the most rigorous courses, so it’s a really proud moment for them to be recognized by a national organization like this.”

Students got ready for the test using ACT, SAT and PSAT prep materials. They also took advantage of the resources WPHS offers to help them prepare. 

“Balance of time is really the most important thing and just using all the resources that you can,” said WPHS senior Nicholas Bucaj. “They (WPHS) offer the National Honor Society study center, and most of the time I’m going there volunteering myself. But also, teachers in general have free periods whether during lunch, study halls or after school to help.”
