Tiger Awards celebrate character and community at White Plains High School

Dozens of White Plains High School students were honored Friday morning with Tiger Awards for what they bring to their classrooms and their community every day.
The school’s awards ceremony, moderated by Assistant Principal Gaetano Vitiello, was held in the Media Center, where family members gathered to cheer their children as they were handed certificates of merit.
The 33 students were nominated by faculty and staff for qualities that often matter most but aren’t always measured: service, positive attitude, cooperation, dependability, initiative, leadership, kindness and overall contributions to the WPHS community.
Teachers who nominated each student introduced them personally, sharing brief reflections on their work in class and the ways they support their peers.
Mr. Vitiello invited the honorees and guests to help themselves to bagels, muffins, cream cheese, coffee, tea and orange juice as the program unfolded naturally — part recognition, part celebration, part photo ops.
