Kindergartners at Post Road School were immersed in the holiday spirit during a festive journey last week as they rotated through five classrooms, each transformed into a celebration of traditions.

The experience on Friday morning allowed the students to learn about holidays and celebrations through storytelling, visuals and hands-on activities.

In Lisa DiRenzo’s classroom, students rang in the New Year by watching a lively video of the iconic ball drop in Times Square as as thousands broke out in cheers.

With "quiet hands" raised," as the teacher requires, students eagerly explained that New Year’s Eve is when “the year changes,” before launching into a countdown.

The classroom erupted in unison: “Ten, nine, eight…” as the sparkling ball descended. “Happy New Year!” they shouted when midnight struck to a blaze of lights.

Mrs. DiRenzo added to the excitement with festive glasses shaped like “2026” and noisemakers, explaining how families celebrate with cheers, music, dancing and horns — or even pots and spoons at home.

In another room, Lauren Naughton guided students through a celebration of lights, teaching them how light symbolizes joy, hope and togetherness during many winter traditions.

Nearby, Jessica Sorrentino introduced students to Hanukkah, sharing its meaning and customs in a warm, engaging way that emphasized family and tradition.

The merriment continued in Lauren Servelli’s Merry Grinchmas classroom, where students enjoyed a playful take on the season through the familiar story of the Grinch, blending humor with lessons about kindness and community.

In the Feliz Navidad classroom, Maria Wise brought energy and rhythm to the celebration — even rapping “The Night Before Christmas” — delighting the children while highlighting the joy of holiday music and language.
