Mamaroneck Avenue Elementary School was awash in a “sea of blue” on Wednesday as students and staff marked Autism Awareness Month with a powerful show of support, learning and inclusion. Principal Rob Janowitz said the day reflected the school’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that every member of the community feels seen, valued and supported. “Throughout the month, students will learn about autism while engaging with incredible stories about acceptance, understanding and inclusion,” he said. A centerpiece of the celebration is a newly created mural near the school’s entrance, symbolizing how each individual contributes to a stronger whole. "This work is so meaningful, as it helps foster empathy, kindness and a deeper sense of belonging for all," Mr. Janowitz said.
