Mamaroneck Avenue Elementary School recently marked Inclusive School Week, which celebrated the values of uniqueness, inclusivity and acceptance.

From December 8-12, students and staff participated in activities that highlighted what makes each individual special. Buddy classes worked together to learn about and celebrate their differences, reinforcing the message that everyone belongs.

Buddy classes pair students from different grade levels, learning settings or abilities to promote inclusion, empathy and a strong sense of community.

During the week, students wore tie-dye attire, pajamas, superhero costumes, crazy socks or mismatched outfits and MAS orange and black spirit wear.

As part of the celebration, they also created handprints showcasing their own special traits.

The Special Needs PTA brought the project together by creating a striking world map mural featuring 610 handprints. Displayed as one, the mural serves as a powerful reminder that each person contributes something meaningful to the school community.

Inclusive School Week reflected the school’s core values of respect, kindness and community, reminding everyone that by celebrating our differences, we grow stronger together.
