Eastview students build community and connections at Tiger Fest

Today, as part of their Spirit Week, Eastview Middle School hosted its annual Tiger Fest, a celebration designed to foster community and connection among students during one of the most formative stages of their development.
Middle school is a uniquely dynamic time for students that is emotionally rich and socially complex. Recognizing this, Eastview’s educators created Tiger Fest a few years ago to create a purposeful learning opportunity centered on social and emotional growth. Through collaborative games, shared experiences, and moments of reflection, students were encouraged to meet and engage with their peers, build trust, and learn about the school.
Just a few examples of the day included: In science classrooms, student groups experienced a team-building activity, stacking cups with rubber bands without the ability to touch the cups or talk to each other to direct how to move things. SRO presentations provided students with scenarios about school safety. Students also had the opportunity to pet a therapy dog and learn about their importance in supporting fellow students.
