Families turned out Tuesday for a memorable evening of stories during Family Reading Night, hosted by faculty in partnership with the PTA as part of the district’s PARP (Parents as Reading Partners) initiative and PTA Read-A-Thon.

The event began with a lively read-aloud that set the tone for the night. White Plains City School District Superintendent Dr. Joseph Ricca and Mayor Justin Brasch kicked things off by sharing "The Three Billy Goats Gruff" and "Three Billy Goats Buenos."

Dr. Ricca gamely tackled the Spanish words woven into the story, with help from enthusiastic students in the audience.

After the opening read-aloud, Assistant Principal Meredith Lee guided families through a short mindfulness activity before students and parents broke into classroom groups. There, guest readers — including teachers and members of the Board of Education — continued the storytelling fun, followed by crafts and activities inspired by the books.

The evening wrapped up on a sweet note as families gathered to enjoy cookies together!
