WPFD visits elementary schools on "Santa Express"

Santa stopped by the White Plains City School District's elementary schools this Tuesday with a whole crew of characters to spread holiday cheer! The White Plains Fire Department (WPFD) visited schools in their fire truck, which was transformed into the “Santa Express” for the special occasion.

With holiday music blasting, students throughout the district lined up outside their schools, waved and cheered as the fire truck rolled up to their school. Santa was joined by Rudolph, Frosty the Snowman, Clifford, and other characters. One of the fire fighters even brought a puppy to join the festivities!

At Ridgeway Elementary School, they proudly partnered with the WPFD to make the annual Santa/Holiday Express truck visit inclusive of all cultures and traditions. They thoughtfully incorporated the recognition of Hanukkah and Kwanzaa, ensuring that every student and family felt seen, valued and represented. 

By honoring the diversity of religions and cultures within the Ridgeway community, the event reflected the true spirit of the season—one of respect, inclusion, and togetherness for all.

Students were thrilled and grateful to be visited by the fire fighters, becoming even more excited for the holiday season as winter recess approaches!
