'Tigers in Training' take cheerful sprint onto field during Tigers game

The Friday night lights shone even brighter last night as hundreds of “Tigers in Training” sprinted onto Loucks Field during the halftime of the matchup between White Plains High School and East Ramapo.

With the Tigers leading, the students from all five of the district's elementary schools amassed at the north end of the field and roared for the beloved White Plains tradition that brings them together to experience the spirit of the team.

Sporting the team and individual school colors, the students posed for photos with their classmates, principals, teachers and families before they rushed onto the turf with joy as the cheerleading squad welcomed them.

“It’s to promote school spirit,” Post Road School Principal Jesimae Ossorio said moments before the second half kicked off. “Each school has its own flavor and we’re all here to offer our support.”

She said the “Tigers in Training” event also provides the elementary school students a closeup view of what they can look forward to in the higher grades as full-fledged Tigers.

Among the masses were sisters Valentina and Alessia Laudani, third- and first-graders, respectively.

“It’s cool to see the field!” Valentina exclaimed in the stands, where she sat with her sister and mother, Dayane, after the mad dash across the gridiron. “It was fun to see all the cheerleaders.”

When the final whistle blew, the excitement didn’t fade. The Tigers pulled off a dramatic 33–32 victory, sealing the evening with a perfect ending.
