The White Plains Board of Education took a late summer road trip to get a close-up look at the new improvements at Church Street School, Mamaroneck Avenue School and White Plains High School.

“We really wanted to have the Board be able to see firsthand the incredible improvements that their support and the community’s support has made possible to keep making sure that our kids have facilities and an environment in which they can really learn and grow,” Dr. Ann Vaccaro-Teich, assistant superintendent for business and operations, said last week.

“It was a tremendous amount of work, and one of the first things we have to do as a school district is preserve the assets that the community has entrusted us,” she added.

At Church Street School, extensive renovations to the auditorium and library were highlighted. You can read more about the renovations here

Mamaroneck Avenue hallways stood out with brand new artwork, but the school also installed a lift to make the building more accessible for students with disabilities. You can read more about the renovations here.

The highlight of the district’s capital projects, the White Plains High School Innovation Wing, was the final stop. The Board members also were given a tour of other improvements, including new bleachers in the north gym and pool. Read more about the WPHS improvements here.

“This was an amazing opportunity to see all the hard work that is done to prepare our students for their future,” Board President Rosemarie Eller said. “Our state-of-the-art infrastructure and facilities will ensure our kids are prepared for the work they need to do now and in the future. I’m impressed.”
