      ELA & Critical Literacy

    Meet Mrs. Walters!
I have been teaching for the last 23 years and I love it! I began my career as a 6th grade ELA/Social Studies teacher in the Bronx where I taught for 5 years. I have been teaching 6th Grade ELA here at White Plains Middle School for the last 18 years. I attended Queens College where I received a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education K-6. I then furthered my education at Lehman College where I received a Master's Degree in Reading K-12.
I hope my love of reading and writing becomes contagious throughout the year. For those of you who already enjoy reading and writing I hope to strengthen your interest. And, for those of you who find reading and/or writing a challenge or not enjoyable I hope to change that over the course of the year. I am very excited about the upcoming school year and look forward to providing many meaningful learning experiences.
