Q. Are masks required?
A: Yes. Students, staff and visitors to our schools will be expected to wear face coverings at all times, indoors and outside, including on the school bus and in classrooms.
Q: Will students be allowed to remove their masks at any point during the school day?
A: Yes. Students will be allowed to remove face coverings during meals and for short breaks so long as they maintain appropriate social distance. Students who are unable to medically tolerate a face covering will not be required to wear one. If you or your child has a medical exemption, please contact your building principal.
What is considered an acceptable face covering?
A: Cloth face masks that cover both the nose and mouth that include, but are not limited to, homemade sewn masks, "quick cut" masks and bandanas are acceptable. Surgical masks are also acceptable.
Will masks be provided to students and staff?
A: Face coverings and related necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided to students and staff, if needed, at no cost.
What happens if a student refuses to wear a mask?
A: Just as any other instance in which a student refuses to follow school rules, teachers and other staff will work toward compliance with the student.
Q: Does the school district have enough hand sanitizer?
A: The district is slated to receive hand sanitizer and PPE on a rolling basis to ensure that we have enough during the academic year. We will continue to purchase more supplies as needed.
Q: How do we prevent students from sharing masks?
A: We will encourage families to label masks and keep to themselves, like other personal items like headphones.
Q: What health reasons make students not have to wear a mask?
A: Please contact your building principal or nurse to discuss your child’s specific situation.
