During the month of January 2018, we will be conducting our Omnibus Screenings for our 7th graders. The screening entails: height, weight, vision, audio, blood pressure, pulse and checking for scoliosis. The screening for our 8th graders will be scoliosis only. Regulations of the Commissioner of Education requires the examination of an uncovered spine which will be done under private conditions. It could be part of physical examinations as provided by private physicians. (Early identification may eliminate the need for surgery in the future). Parents will be notified if the student fails the screening for scoliosis and will need further evaluation from their Primary Health Care provider.
(This is per Education Law Article 19 that schools provide scoliosis screenings for each child between 8 and 16 year of age).
