On Thursday, October 24th, GW celebrated its 20th annual Family Reading Night. The night was a great success with attendance by many different members of the community! Current and retired teachers, administrators, a school board member, a representative from the Youth Bureau and the White Plains Library, and even the president of our PTA came out to read stories in English and some in Spanish to willing listeners wearing pajamas. Attendees went to two different classrooms to listen to read-alouds of engaging children’s literature, and to the auditorium stage to browse the school book fair. Our fabulous fifth grade ambassadors escorted our guest readers and helped direct wandering folks. Finally, the PTA topped it all off with delicious refreshments at reasonable prices and a free book raffle. What a great tradition this celebration of reading has become at GW!
