Test Prep Book Donations Needed... The May 2017 PTA Free Book Celebration is preparing to be an amazing event again this year.  We are however in need of Test Prep Books.   Please contact Caroline Furry dfurry@netzero.com or Caroline Stabb staabcaro@yahoo.com.

White Plains PTA FREE Book Celebration Committee: We are currently recruiting enthusiastic volunteers to sit on the WP PTA FREE Book Celebration Board!   This is a district wide FREE literacy event that touches 1000's of students each year. The book fair supports literacy and the students look forward to it each year. The book celebration is held the first Saturday in May at Eastview MS.  A smaller version is held the day before at WPHS.

The Book Celebration Committee members assist in  managing the event.  This is ONLY a 15-20 hour commitment over 5 months.  Most of the work can be done from home.

 ·        Attend 2 meetings a year:  January and March

·         Hang posters at your school advertising the event

·         You would volunteer to sit on a subcommittee with another parent (ie refreshments, outreach, communication, publicity, entertainment or giveaways).  Each area has 2 volunteers.  The teams of 2 works together to complete their assignment (ie order backpacks for the event or solicit stop and shop for refreshments).

·         Each year ONE school would coordinate a collection at their respective home school.  ie. RW would collect books for our event in 2018, RW would not collect again for another 5 years. The year your respective school collects would be the only year that maybe you would reach a 20 hour commitment.  You would not be on your own, the entire school PTA and Book Celebration Committee would support this book drive at RW.

·         Attendance at the Book Celebration event.  Event runs from 10 am to noon.  Set up begins at 8:30 am that day.

Volunteering for this event is a fun and rewarding way to get involved in supporting ALL students within our district. Below is why this event is so important to our community and how volunteering 15 hours to sit on this Board positively impacts so many of our students.  Please read the description below to get a full understanding of why this event is sponsored.

Please let Lori Hardy or Denise Serra know if you are interested in this position.
