-NYS ELA test – anyone who has been enrolled in a NYS school less than one year is exempt, all others must take it. This test measures student’s annual progress in English language arts. It is given in mid-March annually
-NYS Math test – all students take this test, regardless of length of time in America. This test measures student’s annual progress in math. It is given in early May annually. Students will be allowed extra time to complete the test and will be allowed the use of a translation dictionary.
-NYSESLAT (New York State English as a Second Language Achievement Test). This is taken by all students enrolled in the ESOL program. Additionally, students who have already completed 6 years of ESOL services but have not yet reached the proficient level must be retested each year until they do score at the proficient level. This test measures student’s annual progress in English language skills. It determines whether additional ESOL services are needed. This test is given in late April – early May.
