George Washington Elementary students rehearse for Beyond Broadway performance

The show must go on! Fifth-grade students at George Washington Elementary School are practicing for their performances with the help of instructors from Dance Cavise as a part of the Beyond Broadway program. Students began rehearsing during the first week of December.

Team 7B wins Highlands second annual 7th Grade Volleyball Tournament

Seventh graders at Highlands Middle School bumped, set and spiked their way through the school’s second annual 7th Grade Volleyball Tournament. Seventh and eighth grade Highlands students can earn "Tiger Points" for their teams during the gradewide athletic tournaments, with Team 7B taking the victory in volleyball. The students had a wonderful time earning Tiger Points for their team.

George Washington, Mamaroneck Avenue schools celebrate inclusivity

George Washington and Mamaroneck Avenue schools joined all elementary buildings this week in celebrating Inclusive Schools Week, which features different daily themes that honor “every student’s right to learn in an environment that supports diverse needs, embraces unique abilities and fosters a sense of belonging.”

Church Street students complete Beyond Broadway program and perform songs from popular musicals

Students at Church Street were treated to a Broadway show right from the comfort of their own auditorium last Wednesday through Friday. Fifth-grade students performed songs and dances from five famous theater productions in their Beyond Broadway show, which is a program that is funded in part by The Friends of White Plains Public Schools, who were in attendance alongside members of Grandpas United.

Winter Weather Notification Test Reminder

Dear WPCSD Families, 

As we get ready for winter, the district will be running a test of our weather delay and closure notification system this Sunday, November 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. 

This is just a test to make sure everyone receives alerts properly. You’ll get a message by phone, text, or email. 

If you don’t receive the test alert, please contact your school office to update your contact information or visit our ParentSquare page on the district website to find out how to update your information or register.

Friends of WPPS and WP Alumni Association Homecoming Gathering - 6 to 8 p.m. on Wed. Nov. 26 at Ron Blacks

The Friends of White Plain Public Schools and the White Plains Alumni Association will hold their second annual Homecoming Gathering from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, at Ron Blacks, 181 Mamaroneck Avenue. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged. Advance registration is requested, and you can register now at friendsofwpps.org. For more information, email FriendsofWPPS@gmail.com.
