Innovation Wing taking shape as White Plains High School addition moves ahead of schedule

The future Innovation Wing at White Plains High School is rapidly taking shape, with school and construction officials reporting that the high-tech hub for Career and Technical Education, arts instruction and cutting-edge learning opportunities is progressing ahead of schedule. Principal Emerly Martinez led a tour of the construction site Monday for engineering teachers Al Martinez, Giordano Garcia and Chad Allen, offering a firsthand look at the two-story addition that will connect to the main building through an enclosed glass bridge. The project, which broke ground in the summer of 2025, is currently targeted for opening during the fall of 2027. While emphasizing that construction timelines can always change, Mr. Martinez said the project is “a little bit ahead of schedule.”

Turning the page: Eastview students discover new opportunities at White Plains Public Library

Eastview Middle School sixth-grade students recently took an exciting step toward becoming independent library users through the White Plains Public Library's "Introduction to The Edge" program. The experience was designed to help students transition from the library's children's section, The Trove, to The Edge, a dedicated space for teens. Throughout the day, students explored the library through an interactive iPad scavenger hunt, participated in hands-on STEM activities and tackled creative design challenges that encouraged critical thinking and empathy.

Ridgeway Tigers celebrate end of school year with ice cream social

The Ridgeway Tigers had Mother Nature licked! Despite the stormy weather trying to steal the spotlight, the students had an amazing time celebrating another incredible school year with an ice cream social. The smiles were endless, the ice cream was flowing, and even Superintendent of Schools Dr. Joseph Ricca made a special appearance!

Young entrepreneurs pitch big ideas at Highlands Middle School Business Fair

Highlands Middle School became a hub of entrepreneurs as students pitched products ranging from custom shoe designs and smart door technology to devices aimed at cleaning oceans and sanitizing towels. The popular Business Fair, held Wednesday evening in the North Gym, highlighted how students can identify everyday problems and develop solutions through the mxINCedu entrepreneurial program led by teacher Ina Pascal.

Board of Education student trustees recognized for year of leadership and service

Charis Choi and Afrozah Hossain were recognized for their service as White Plains Board of Education ex-officio student trustees, marking their final meeting before graduation. During their last board meeting before graduation, District Superintendent Dr. Joseph Ricca on Monday evening thanked both students for their contributions and praised the impact they had on the community.

WPCSD employees celebrated for 25 years of dedicated service in district

A large group of White Plains City School District employees were recognized Monday night for marking a special milestone: 25 years of dedicated service in the district. Superintendent Dr. Joseph Ricca congratulated the teachers and staff members for their lengthy service during a Board of Education meeting in which he also paid homage to dozens of new retirees.

White Plains City School District honors retirees for lifetimes of service

 The White Plains City School District honored its retiring teachers and staff members during a heartfelt ceremony Monday evening, celebrating decades of dedication to students, families and the school community. A touching video highlighted the evening, with retirees sharing favorite memories from their careers and reflecting on what they will miss most about their time in the district. Their recollections ran the gamut from cherished relationships with students and colleagues to moments that defined their years in White Plains.

Student-athletes make commitments to play at the collegiate level at College Signing Day

These White Plains student-athletes are taking their talents to the next level! Twenty-four members of the Class of 2026 signed commitments to their schools to play sports at the collegiate level during College Signing Day at White Plains High School on Thursday.

Scholar-Athletes for spring season receive pins at White Plains High School

Academics and athletics go hand in hand at White Plains High School, and 134 students received their pins on Wednesday morning as recognition of their Scholar-Athlete status for the spring sports season. Scholar-athletes are student athletes with an average GPA of at least 90%. All eight spring sports varsity teams were also recognized as Scholar-Athlete Teams, which is earned when the top 75% of a team has an average GPA of over 90%.

Senior White Plains High School athletes honored at 2026 Athletic Awards Night

White Plains High School celebrated the accomplishments of its graduating student-athletes during the 2026 Senior Athletic Awards Night on Wednesday evening. The event in the balloon-festooned H Café – attended by a large crowd of students, families, coaches and staff – recognized athletic excellence, academic achievement and dedication to the Tiger community.
