WPHS Science Research Students Win at JSHS Competition!
It is with great pride to announce that five of our WPHS Science Research Seniors won awards this past Saturday at the Westchester-Rockland Junior Science & Humanities Symposium (JSHS) held at Sleepy Hollow High School. This year there were over 600 participants from over 30 local High Schools. Below is a list of our students and their awards:
Tanveen Dhallu: 2nd place Medicine & Health II PowerPoint: “Effects of Aromatherapy Inhalation on Pain and Anxiety in Patients with Chronic Wounds”
David Lumelsky: 4th place Physical Science III PowerPoint : “Use of Slippery Liquid Infused Porous Surface (SLIPS) Coating on Aircraft to Prevent Icing During Flight into Known Icing Conditions”
Ty Ingram: 4th place Environmental Science II PowerPoint: “The Productivity of a Corrugated Algae Turf Scrubber Compared with that of a Conventional Algae Turf Scrubber”
Arielle Hazi: 2nd place Biology II Poster-board: “The Effect of Nestbox Decoys on Nesting Habits of Eastern Bluebirds”
Diana Medina: 3rd place Behavior II Poster-board: “The Effects of Daylight Saving Time on Sleep and Vigilance”
Ty, David and Tanveen will move onto the Junior Science & Humanities Symposium Regional competition at SUNY Albany on March 10-11th. Ty and David will be presenting Poster-boards of their research and Tanveen will compete in the PowerPoint category.
