Welcome to the 2105-16 school year!!

Thank you for visiting the Fine Arts homepage for the White Plains City School District.  Here you will find information about the Music and Art departments for the White Plains Public Schools.  We believe Fine Arts Education is essential to the development of all students and we offer instruction in Music and Art for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade.  We also have many opportunities for students at various levels to participate in dance and theater related activities.  Use the links to the left to navigate through the Fine Arts website, and thank you for visiting our homepage!

Please visit the Fine Arts Calendar to find a list, by month, of all the concerts throughout the year.  The link is on the menu bar to the left.  Mark your calendars now - we look forward to seeing you at these performances!

Current News
  • Congratulations to the following students for being selected to perform at the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) winter conference as a member of one of the All-State Performing ensembles.  This is the highest honor for a music ensemble member in the state of New York.  These two students earned this opportunity by performing a solo at the most challenging level last spring in the NYSSMA solo/ensemble festival.  Because they received a superior rating, they were accepted into an All-State performing ensemble.  Congratulations to them both!
    • Sarah Cassidy, bass clarinet
    • Robert Eatmon, tuba

  • HUGE Congratulations to Elana Hausknecht for being the first WPHS student ever to be selected to participate in one of the 2016 All National Honor Ensembles at the 2016 National Association for Music Education conference in Grapevine, TX.  The National Honor Ensembles represent the very best High School musicians in the United States.  The chosen participants will meet at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas and work with directors that are leaders in the field of music education.  This is an incredible honor for Elana and we could not be more proud to have her represent the White Plains school district November 10-13 at this conference.  Elana earned this honor because of her dedication to performing, hard work, preparation, and continual efforts to improve as a musician.  Congratulations Elana!
