School Resource Officers

The White Plains school district is fortunate to have two White Plains Police Officers working as School Resource Officers (SROs) in our schools.  The School Resource Officer program is a nationally accepted proactive approach to help schools deal with the pressures that today’s youth face.

Currently, there is one SRO at the high school and one SRO who shares his time between the two campuses of the middle school.  The SROs serve as a resource to each school community and not in response to any specific problem in our schools.  While in school, the SRO is involved in a variety of functions aimed at prevention and can answer questions from students, parents, and school staff regarding law issues.  The SROs have positive relationships with students and staff and often informally counsel our students.  The SROs serve to maintain a safe school climate and to foster cooperative relationships between schools and police.

Parents and staff are invited to call the SROs if they have any questions or wish to have a conversation with the officers about issues facing our students.
