Church Street Elementary School was the grand prize winner of the $10,000 top prize in Main Street Connect’s Better Schools Bonanza, sponsored by Entergy. More than 14,500 votes from family, friends and supporters helped CSS win.
Friday, November 4th the students and staff celebrated with a lunch time ice cream party. On Wednesday, November 9th all 727 students, faculty and staff gathered in the gym for the official $10,000 check ceremony presented by TheDailyWhitePlains.com. Main Street Connect's owner, Entergy's representatives, Legislator Bill Ryan, and Mayor Roach were among the attendees who all got to experience the CSS spirit.
Dr. Boehlert who came to celebrate this great event commented that, “The school spirit generated by the staff, students, administrators, and parents created an atmosphere of celebration and pride that went above and beyond the norm. The sea of purple shirts, sweaters, banners, and HAIR helped the students become part of a school family.”
A big THANK YOU to the faculty, staff, and students; the Administrative team Mr. Stinchcomb and Mrs. Ossorio; the PTA team (Mrs. Leccese, Mrs. Friedman, Mrs. DeMilio, Mrs. Marwill, Mrs. Sareen, Mrs. Hamlin, and Mrs. Cassidy) who helped to keep everyone up-to-date on the voting results and motivated to win.
