Congratulations to White Plains High School senior Benjamin Van Doren, for being selected as a semi-finalist in the Intel Science Talent Search, the nation's most prestigious pre-college science competition. Ben's research topic, "Meteorological, Topographical and Behavioral Correlates of Diurnal Autumn Morning Flight Migration in the Northeastern United States," examined the migration of birds.

 

He is among 14 Westchester high school students who studied a variety of subjects to receive the Intel honor. The nationwide Intel contest awards more than $1 million a year, and 300 students nationwide were selected as semifinalists from an application pool of more than 1,800. Eash semifinalist receives a $1,000 award, and each school receives a $1,000 award per selected student.
