The Support for Academic Learning program helps students succeed in academics in many ways. In S.A.L. class we focus on study skills, math skills, reading strategies, and the writing process. We also review for upcoming tests and quizzes. In addition, students will be supported in their general academic classes based on the level of support listed on the IEP. One level of support which may be provided is through a push-in model called Integrated Co-Teaching. Another level of support may include having a teaching assistant in the general education classroom.
S.A.L. is a non-graded class, however I will communicate with you about your child's progress through progress reports, report cards, IEP report cards, phone calls and meetings.
Students need to bring the following materials to class on a daily basis:
Planner
Pens, pencils and highlighters
Multiplication Flashcards
