February 2010 Dear Parents and Students, Colleagues and Community Members, I hope you will find the new district website useful. It follows the fine tradition of being serious about our responsibility to communicate with the public as well as students and staff internally. Ultimately, communication is defined more by a willingness to engage in dialog and share information than the latest and greatest technology. The thoughtful use of 21st Century communication tools, however, do need to be employed to increase ease of access for all. Please take a little time to explore the website. Bookmark it. Make it a destination you return to on a regular basis as you search for updates on events, news, and a wide variety of information about the school district. The new areas being developed are our Points of Pride, where we will have full feature stories of events, activities, awards, etc that will include photos and videos. You will also see our new Announcements are on the left side and our Upcoming Events on the right side, which will bring the latest news and calendar events, including any school closings. On the far right side we will have site shortcuts to some of the more popular pages on websites, such as Board of Education, Human Resources, Athletics, Lunch Menus, and White Plains Public Library (notice the free access to online tutoring there!). When students are registered, these shortcuts will also provide links to district resources students can use from home.
