Schools & Programs

Over 6,000 regular and special education students in kindergarten through twelfth grade attend nine district schools located throughout White Plains.

  • Students in kindergarten through 5th grade attend one of our five elementary schools. Although each of these schools has a different theme or focus, they also have a lot in common.  The assignment of elementary school-age youngsters is not based on the where the child lives but rather on the rules of the Controlled Parents' Choice Program.

  • Students in 6th - 8th grade attend one of the two White Plains Middle School campuses.  Both campuses offer the same core academic curriculum but differ in size and structure. The assignment of middle school-age youngsters is not based on where the child lives but rather on the rules of the Controlled Parents' Choice Program.

  • Students in 9th - 12th grade attend the districtwide comprehensive High School.

  • Some students in grades 7th - 12th who perform better in a smaller, less structured environment attend the district's alternative program, the Community School.

  • The school district also operates a districtwide PreKindergarten Program for four-year olds, a Newcomer Center for newly arrived students in grades 1-6 who are in need of intensive English language instruction, and an extensive Adult and Continuing Education Program.  The district is also responsible for the education of children who are hospitalized or are in day treatment programs at New York Hospital.
